An interview with Mary Buxton, Trustee and formerly Office Manager at St Ethelwold's
In 2012, Mary had recently retired from her career job as a solicitor. Living close by she always looked towards the window of St Ethelwold’s to see what was happening there.
She saw a notice advertising the job of Centre Manager and consequently applied. Thus started an 11 year stint in the office, dealing with all the back room work while promoting a welcoming and a calm atmosphere for our visitors.
There is such a variety of tasks and challenges… it is a rewarding place to work because of the wonderful people and the ethos driving them. St Ethelwold’s has been a big part of her life since 2012.
Mary explains her time working at the house. Her job organising the rooms and running the office, with the experiences that she gained while working.
She ends her interview talking about Host Abingdon and how St Ethelwold’s has helped the community.
